The new Veronese showroom is situated on rue Saint-Martin in the Arts-et-Métiers neighbourhood of Paris. The company’s headquarters includes a showroom presenting their Murano glass creations and design pieces, an atelier, a design space and management offices. Veronese wanted to create an inviting and functional home environment for their showroom, incorporating current notions of home living. The renovation of the space involved stripping back layers of successive uses to unearth the original features including the rustic herring bone wood floors and columns. Then, in response to the client’s brief, the interior design of this L-shaped space is sequenced according to different home functions, including a large open-plan kitchen anchored by an island counter.
We incorporated a vast feature wall that spans the length of the showroom, acting as a central unifier to the space and creating a strong identity. This softly gouged black wood wall has been designed to serve several functions – from exhibition niches and bookshelves to hidden doors leading to the studio offices, where the in-house design team works. The wall is treated as a central design element, and at the far end of the showroom it transforms into the kitchen area. The choice of a black wall is counter-balanced by the natural light that floods the space through the showroom’s colonnade of floor-to-ceiling windows. These contrasting textures provide an elegant backdrop for the Murano glass designs that bring the space to life. The ceiling has been designed as a modular structure made of metal and wood that provides total flexibility for the positioning of the light features depending on the scenographic requirements. The lower level is dedicated to Veronese’s atelier, in which all the designs are assembled.
