Nestled into the Turkish coast, Banyan Tree in Yalikavak is like an ecosystem. The project demonstrates that architecture and nature can coexist, that we can enjoy the sea without destroying the coastline. This kind of symbiosis requires an in-depth understanding of the topography to determine where to build and an intelligent response to the site plan to intertwine the buildings with vegetation, minerality, and water. The elegance of the architecture connecting indoor and outdoor areas comes from an alliance between the sober lines of the design and the patterns, textures, and rhythms that structure the space. Outside, terraced water displays, delineated by the presence of the built environment, create a dialogue with the Mediterranean. Inside, the refined materials and colour palette creates a constant link between the interior and the natural environment.
